Top performances, invited to the German State Theatre Timișoara under the motto "Theater Connection" - theater that unites us

24 September 2024

The German State Theater Timișoara (GSTT) invites its audience, in the first week of October, to three well-known performances that premiered last season in Romania - Woyzeck by Georg Büchner, directed by Hunor Horváth, a production of the German section of the National Theater "Radu Stanca" in Sibiu, Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Vlad Cristache, a production of the "Regina Maria" Theater in Oradea and Hedwig and the Angry Inch by John Cameron Mitchell, directed by Răzvan Mazilu, a production of the "Stela Popescu" Theater in Bucharest.

The three performances, invited by GSTT to Timișoara as part of the event Theater Connection │ the theater that unites us, will be performed at the Regional Business Center Timișoara, CRAFT, Bulevardul Eroilor de la Tisa, nr. 22.

Woyzeck, scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., questions the conditions in which violence is born. Spectators of this production - nominated this year for the UNITER award for best direction - are invited to witness the human tragedy of a society heading towards self-destruction, and the means to find salvation require a total change of mentality. The performance is in German with translation into Romanian and English.

Rabbit Hole, playing Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., is a poignant psychological drama, a warm story of acceptance, strength and transformation. A sometimes difficult healing process that takes place on a personal and interpersonal level alike. Performed in Romanian with English translation.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which will be performed on Monday night, October 7, 2024, at 8 p.m., evokes the story of a troubled, nonconformist existence in search of success on stage. The incredible trials that Hedwig goes through, but above all the assumption and sensitivity with which she reveals them to the audience to the strains of rock music, have created a cult aura around the play for lovers of the musical genre. Hedwig is not a manifesto for a particular type of sexuality, but a theatrical experience with a profoundly human message that urges openness and empathy for the suffering that every human being actually experiences. The performance is in Romanian, without translation.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office of the German Theatre, at 2 Alba Iulia St. (opening hours can be consulted here) or from the Entertix network.
