The German State Theatre Timisoara (GSTT) is proud to announce the premiere of the comedy “Noises Off” by Michael Frayn, which will bask in the limelight as follows:
General rehearsal with audience - Saturday, the 2nd of April 2016
Opening Night - Sunday, the 3rd of April 2016
Future performances - Saturday, the 7th of May 2016

The general rehearsal with audience as well as all other performances start at 19:30 in the Hall of the GSTT and will be simultaneously translated into Romanian.
The performance “Noises Off” is signed by the director Wolf E. Rahlfs, while set design and costumes are signed by Franziska Smolarek. The cast brings together the actors Tatiana Sessler-Toami, Konstantin Keidel, Isa Berger, Rareș Hontzu, Daniela Török, Franz Kattesch, Radu Vulpe, Oana Vidoni and Harald Weisz.
The “Noises Off” farce, premiered for the first time in 1982, and brought British playwright Michael Frayn long lasting success. The author mocks theatre as a whole, focusing the action surrounding the staging of the comedy “Nothing On”. In every act of “Noises Off”, the first act of “Nothing On” is presented: first as a general rehearsal, then during a performance where the audience gets to see the bustle backstage, and then, on tour. Thanks to its irresistible comic, the comedy “Noises Off” was the performance with the most spectators – over 180.000 –of German expression area in the 1984/ 1985 season.
Wolf E. Rahlfs studied acting at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, and later directing at the Middlesex University in London as well as the York University in Toronto. He’s collaborated along the way with theatres in Bruchsal, Aachen, Koblenz, Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg. At GSTT he played the role of Cristi in “Kamikaze” by Alina Nelega, directed by Gavril Cadariu(2007) and the main role in “Don Carlos” after Friedrich Schiller, directed by Alexander Hausvater(2011). He was awarded by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2001 and by the International Festival of Theater Direction in Leipzig/ Trento in 2009.
Franziska Smolarek studied at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. She worked as a set and costume designer for theatres in Germany, Austria and England. She was one of the set designers hired for the closing ceremony at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
