Rareș Hontzu

Actor

Rareș Hontzu was born in 1978 in Sibiu and graduated in 2003 with a degree in acting in German from the Faculty of Music and Theatre of the West University of Timisoara. Since graduation he has been a member of the ensemble of the German State Theatre Timișoara. He was also temporarily employed at the German Section of the National Theatre Radu Stanca Sibiu, and in the 2007-2008 season at the German Theater in Szekszard.


Among the performances in which he plays the following are worth mentioning: The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling as Kaa the snake; Lysistrata 3.0 after Aristophanes as Euripides; The Theatre by Pascal Rambert as Rüdiger; The Snow Queen by Yevgeny Schwarz as the Raven; The Cherry Orchard by A. P. Chekhov as Simeonov-Pishevich Boris Borisovich; Leonce and Lena by Georg Büchner as the Master of Ceremonies; Sidy Thal by Thomas Perle and Clemens Bechtel as I. Popa; A Midsummer Night's Dream after William Shakespeare as Lysander; Katzelmacher. If it wouldn't be about love by Rainer Werner Fassbinder as Bruno.


He has worked with important directors such as Alexander Hausvater, Alexandru Dabija, Radu Afrim, Brian Michaels, Gabor Tompa, Silviu Purcărete, Niky Wolcz, Volker Schmidt, Clemens Bechtel, Eugen Jebeleanu, Pascal Rambert, László Béres, Yuri Kordonsky, Răzvan Mazilu.
